About Amelia
My name is Amelia Miller. I grew up in Southern Minnesota and moved to the Twin Cities area in my early teens. I graduated from North Saint Paul High School in 1995, and shortly after moved to Dallas, Texas. I spent two wonderful years in Dallas and treasure the time I lived there. While in Dallas, I became pregnant with my son. My pregnancy was unexpected and frightening for my 19 year old self, but the love and care I received from Carol Wiggs, a nurse-midwife at the Agape Clinic of Texas made me realize how strong and capable I truly was. It also served as inspiration for me, even 12 years later, to begin my own path toward serving pregnant women and families.
I began my journey to become a birth doula in 2004 by attending a Birth Arts International Labor Support
workshop and I am working on my Professional Birth Doula certification with ToLabor. I am also a traditional midwifery student with the Midwives College of Utah.
Though childbirth and education consume a significant part of my time, I also manage to fit a few hobbies in. I'm an avid knitter, though my yarn collection is starting to get a bit out of control. Guess it's time to knit up some baby hats for my clients! We foster dogs (and occasionally kittens) through a local rescue, Pet Project Rescue. I also love camping, biking, and reading.
I currently live in the Camden Webber neighborhood of North Minneapolis with my partner and my son. It's such a beautiful place to live and the community is so open and friendly. I couldn't ask for a better home. I love my neighborhood and my city!
