Introduction
Free initial introduction and consultation appointment (1 hour)
Prenatal
Unlimited phone and email support
2-3 prenatal visits (1-2 hours each)
- Assistance with birth plan
- Provide informational materials to help you feel more prepared for the decisions you are facing
- Discuss options for labor, birth, and postpartum
- Demonstrate, discuss, and practice comfort measures and techniques for labor
- Answer any questions you may have
- One of these visits may coincide with a prenatal doctor appointment, if you choose
Labor
24-hour on-call availability from your 38th week through delivery
Phone contact in early labor and labor support in your home as soon as you feel you need me
Birth
Hospital, homebirth, or birth center support
Suggestions for labor progression
Encouragement and reassurance
Support for partner and family
Staying with family until up to 2 hours post-birth to assist as needed with breastfeeding, making
sure everyone has eaten, and all questions have been answered
Postpartum
1 half-hour visit the next day to touch base and answer any questions we may have missed directly
after the birth
1-2 postpartum home visits (1 hour) within 10 days of delivery
- Provide your copy of a written account of your birth, including a time-line
- Discuss and review the birth
- Discuss newborn care
- Assist with breastfeeding questions/concerns
- Provide referrals to other local resources
- Answer any questions you may have
